The Tiber River is the foundation of Rome’s identity, both mythological and political, and this project was an exploration in reconnecting Romans with that heritage. The Tiber River Museum reestablishes the Forum Boarium as a new entry point to the Tiber River, and reestablishes a pedestrian link from the Arco di Giano to Trastevere. Located just south of isola tiberina the bridge will feature gallery spaces with views to Ponte Rotto the “broken bridge” that once connected banks at this site. The new Mercato di Piazza Bocca will be transformed into a public market space, supporting micro-enterprise and enlivening the neighborhood.
